Build a Douglas Snelling Chair

Beginner woodworking

The Douglas Snelling Chair and Footstool are true Australian mid-century icons. They were designed by Snelling and made in his workshop in St Peters from 1947 - 1955, and an original is proudly displayed in the Powerhouse museum.

In this course, you’ll learn how to make a chair and footstool in Marrickville, a short distance away from the original workshop, under the instruction of an experienced cabinetmaker. Across the 3 day workshop you will construct and weave your own chair, and if there’s time, a matching footstool.

This course is a great choice for those looking to expand their woodworking skills, get into making iconic and comfortable furniture, or challenge themselves a bit more and take their woodworking to the next level.
