Among the Trees invites you to take part in our latest OFFCUT CHALLENGE - Waste to Wonder!

Create a product / project using offcut and scrap timbers, now including flooring - we want to see stools, boxes, sculptures, tools/utensils, models etc.

Project deadline: Friday April 12th - Exhibition opening Night on Saturday April 13th 6-8pm, Exhibition on until Sat May 4th during opening hours.

How to Enter:

Step 1: come to ATT and get free offcuts* for the challenge

Step 2: We take a before photo of the offcuts (preferably with you holding the offcuts) and add your contact details

Step 3: Challenge yourself and make something creative and innovative from the offcuts - for project inspiration and ideas visit our Pinterest board - Offcut Challenge Ideas pinterest.com/amongthetreessydney/offcut-challenge-ideas/

Step 4: Fill out the entry form - www.amongthetrees.com.au/offcut-challenge add a link/picture of what your model is of (e.g. original building)

Step 5: Bring your project to ATT anytime in March during opening hours. We will then take an 'after' photo

Step 6: Come see everyone's creations at the Exhibition, winners will be announced on the opening night and on the last day of the exhibition.

*Offcuts include any timber stock that is $5 or under. Each participant can get offcuts (up to a milk crate full) or take up to 5 pieces of flooring (under 1 meter) for this challenge.

Conditions:

The work created must be made with timber offcuts/scraps.

  • Maximum Project dimensions are 500x500x800mm. You can enter 1 project each (unless it is a set) and it must be made by you in 2023/24.

  • This challenge aims to showcase what can be made with timber offcuts.

  • Mixed media projects are allowed provided it is at least 70% timber and using only recycled, reclaimed and sustainable materials, no resin or other toxic materials to be used (nails, screws or hardware is allowed).

  • Collaborative works are allowed, given they adhere to the above conditions.

  • If you are a woodworker that already works with reclaimed wood (woo, go you!) this is a fun way to create something new. Please don't enter items that you make commercially, challenge yourself to make something new using just offcuts.

  • Masters and beginners of woodworking can enter and there are no restrictions on age. Buddy up with a friend or battle it out in your family/classroom.

There are 3 winning categories: Function, Creativity and Junior Woodworker.

The category prices are awarded on the opening night, an additional Peoples choice award is open for voting during the exhibition and to be awarded on the last day of the exhibition.

Each winner will receive a $50 Among the Trees gift card!
