Sawdust chat and Permaculture at the Pub!

Mark from @plantbasedmale dropped into the shop today to collect some wood shavings for his compost pile. He’s passionate about all things permaculture and runs a mini urban farm where he tests ideas and shares them on his page—definitely worth a look if you’re into growing, composting, or sustainable living.

Mark’s also kicking off a new monthly meetup called Permaculture at the Pub—a casual catch-up for permaculture and sustainability enthusiasts held at @chuckandsonsbrewing. The first event is on July 10, then it’ll be on the second Thursday of each month. A great chance to share ideas, meet like-minded folks, or just enjoy a delicious beverage. Also definitely worth checking out!

The wood shavings Mark is collecting is perfect as “brown” material in your compost mix, adding carbon to the mix and helping to balance the nitrogen from “green” materials like food scraps. They also help create airflow and moisture balance in the compost, and help it decompose into rich, nutritious soil. If you’re after some wood shavings or sawdust, send us a message to check availability. Big thanks to Coffee Alchemy for supplying their used coffee bags—we use them to collect our shavings, so even the bags get a second life.
